Book Writing Tips For Amateur Writers

Getting ready to write your life's story or fiction
perhaps? The following tips will help you to utilize your
time effectively so that you finish your book as quickly
as is possible:

Whatever you write about, don't be boring.

Your book needs to accomplish a particular goal in your
readers. For example, they might be looking to laugh,
learn a new skill or perhaps solve a money problem. Give
that to them in a way that makes them wanna read more.

Write daily if possible.

Many budding authors start to write a book but stop for
months at a time resulting in a loss of their momentum.
This is why so many authors take years to complete their
manuscript.

An author who doesn't write consistently normally finds
that the gaps between writing gets longer and longer. As a
consequence, he may stop writing permanently. Therefore,
it is prudent to write each day in order to reduce this
possibility.

However, there is a small caveat here. Not all writers
write daily because they have their own particular way of
getting into a rhythm. Writing daily may seem forced to
them and so they write only when inspired. If that is your
way, then don't change that.

Create an outline

This is especially necessary for novice authors. It is
best to know what what will be take place on the next
page before you actually get there. An outline lets
you do that.

How do you go about creating an outline? You take time
to answer questions that you'll pose to yourself.

For example, ask yourself, what is the location of the
the setting? - what does the landscape look like? - what
is the demeanor of the lead character? - why is the lead
feeling the way he does? - how is he dressed and why? It
is more effective for an author to formulate a plot by
asking and answering questions than it is by considering
statements.

Don't stop writing

Don't waste precious time editing and rewriting your work.
Try to eliminate that totally. This task should be left
until the book is finished.

Doing anything other than actual writing is more a
distraction than anything else. Besides the outcome is
usually better when you write freely as opposed to trying
to be a perfectionist by editing as you go along.

Fit a certain amount of time of in your day for just
writing and nothing else.

Whether you decide to write for at least 30 minutes or
3 hours, the crucial thing is that you're not disturbed
nor do you cut short your writing time. You'll find that
because of this discipline, the quality of your writing
gets better.

Do research at the end of writing

Whenever you reach a section in your book where you want
to conduct research, simply put an "X" at that point and
carry on writing.

Doing research can be an enjoyable activity, but some
authors get obsessed about it to the point where they
stop writing for a protracted time. It is better to wait
until the end of your writing, research the areas that
needs attention and then include that information there.

Set a daily quota of words

The big league authors write 2000 words daily or more.
They have done it many times - it is easier for them.

As a novice, don't try to do that write away. Aim for
around 200 words or so in the beginning. As your
confidence picks up, ideas will flow and your quota
will naturally increase.

If you implement these tips, you'll experience a more
enjoyable writing experience and have a finished book in
your hands much more quickly.
