Easy Halloween Crafts For Kids

For easy Halloween crafts for kids you don't have to look beyond your own house and backyard to create wonderful costumes. In fact, there are many things you can find in your closet. Nature can also offer you loads of Halloween materials.

Your old closet can hold a wide variety of options for easy Halloween crafts for kids costumes. Start with old discarded clothing and accessories that are no longer in fashion. You'll be surprised what you can create with these. Start off by thinking of basic themes such as caped characters, princesses, and other characters from cartoons/fairytales. Here are some costume ideas:

Blood-Red Riding Hood

Use your red hooded sweaters and attach any red cloth or fabric (this could be from a pillowcase, old bed sheet, towel, or table cloth) to the backside of the sweatshirt with safety pins. Wear a skirt to complete the Little Red Riding Hood look. If you're going to wear a red-colored skirt, the better!

For a realistic Bloody Red Riding Hood look, use red paint or fake blood and bandages and apply it on your face and on your body. Making fake blood is an easy Halloween crafts for kids: just mix cornstarch, corn syrup, and red food coloring. For your "scratches", use a red pen or marker. You can now be a Bloody Red Riding Hood who seemed to have barely escaped the Big Bad Wolf!

Batman

Kids will love this Halloween crafts for kids since this is fairly easy yet exciting to make. The first step in making the mask is to measure the distance between your eyes and apply it on the surface of a paper plate, where you will punch two holes for vision. After punching the two holes, draw out a bat outline and cut out this outline. You can find free bat templates over the Internet and print them out. Next, paint the whole mask black with fast-drying poster paint. You can also purchase a pack of black paper plates if you can find one. Then, punch holes in the sides so you can attach garters, which will secure the mask over your face.

Finish the look by wearing a black or gray sweatshirt and sweatpants/tights. Attach a black fabric to the back of the sweatshirt with safety pins.

A Sleepwalker

A sleepwalker costume is another easy Halloween crafts for kids. All you need are your PJ's, a set of curlers, and a teddy bear (or voodoo doll to scare off guests).

A Nature Princess

For this easy Halloween crafts for kids idea, all you need to do is find a nightgown for your body costume. Then go outdoors to gather some twigs, dead leaves and flowers. Tie the flowers together, suspend upside down, and let them dry under the sun. Make a wreath for your crown out of the twigs and dried leaves by using Elmer's glue and your glue gun. Add the dried flowers and eggshells for more interest. You can also purchase a rubber snake to wear around your neck.
