Green Coffee Beans - Things To Consider

By: A R Thompson

Today more and more people find that they do not function properly first thing in the morning until they have had their first cup of coffee. Although many people prefer to make coffee beans which have already been roasted and then ground so all they need to do is put them in to the coffee machine. There are others who prefer to purchase the green coffee beans and then roast them in order to provide them with a much more distinctive flavor that can not be found anywhere else.

However, in order to ensure that the coffee tastes great every time they use the beans once they have been roasted is to make sure that they chosen the right ones in the first place. In this article we look at certain factors a person needs to take into consideration when they are thinking about buying green coffee beans for them to roast their selves.

The first factor than needs to be taken into consideration when buying these kinds of coffee beans is their size and shape. Ideally you should look to buy ones which have a uniform appearance to them. If not then when it actually comes to roasting them the whole process becomes somewhat more difficult. Smaller beans may well be over cooked and larger ones under cooked which would result in a taste that is not consistent.

As well as making sure that the beans are the same shape and size you also need to make sure that they are all very much the same color. Too much variation in their color can again make each cup of coffee you make with them after they have been roasted taste completely different. Generally those beans which have not got a uniform color to them have not been dried correctly and is better to avoid such beans altogether.

The next factor which needs to be taken into consideration is where the beans have actually been grown. There are a number of different countries that now produce coffee beans which they dry and then sell in their unroasted format or which have been roasted. Both Hawaii and Columbia produce great coffee beans and although they both grow theirs on mountains each of their coffees comes with its own distinctive flavor.

If you are someone who prefers to drink decaffeinated coffee rather than normal coffee you can actually purchase green coffee beans that you can then roast for yourself and which do not contain any caffeine. Although there are quite a few countries which now produce these kinds of coffee beans for you to purchase the main growers can be found in Columbia, Costa Rica and Guatemala.

The last factor which you should take into consideration when thinking about buying green coffee beans is where you want to actually get them from. Today you have a number of different options to you. You can either go to a specialist coffee shop online or you can seek out a specialty store close to where you live. The great thing about buying them online is that you can order them whilst sat at your desk at work and they will then be dispatched and delivered to your home.

A speciality coffee shop is a great way of getting hold of the numerous different types of green coffee beans that are now available. Plus you will find that the owner of the shop is often willing to provide you with advice and information in relation to what may well be the best types for you to try. They may well also provide you with the chance to take home a small amount of each of the beans you are considering so that you can then try them out to see which of them you prefer the taste of. This is probably a very cost effective way of finding out exactly which coffee taste it is you really like and which of the various coffee beans now available you wish to avoid in the future.
