How Does a Blue Tooth Home Security System Work?

By: Sandra Wilson

Over the last few years there has been a surge in the number of wireless burglar alarm systems. Many of these are thanks to the security systems companies that are now carrying the blue tooth home security system. We will overview just what the bluetooth technology provides us and the benefits we get from having these systems in our homes.

First, Bluetooth uses short range radio frequencies in order to transmit data or a voice from one location to another. But unlike many current security systems, those that are fitted with blue tooth technology are able to transmit data much more quickly. So if an alarm has been activated, assuming the system is being monitored by a service, they will be receiving information that the system has been activated much more quickly.

Bluetooth systems were first used to transmit data from a handheld storage device to the desktop PC without having to plug in cables and mess with wires. This allows all the data to be synched up between different devices more easily regardless of where the data collection first took place. It is this wireless component that makes it such an important part of home security systems today. With no wires to cut or disconnect, it is hoped the lack will keep the potential burglar from entering or robbing your home.

Another advantage to using a Bluetooth home security system over some of the more conventional ones is that it is extremely secure. The information that is passed between the control panel in your home and the monitoring center is encrypted and certain authentication measures have to take place before it is unencrypted.

Also with a blue tooth home security system, the signal that it transmits from the control panel to the monitoring service will use a whole number of different frequencies. So what this means that the only people who will be able to access the data that is being transmitted is the receiver which is synchronized to your home security system.

With a blue tooth home security system the actual cost of installing one is less compared to that of a more conventional one where wires are required. As there is no need for the installer to spend time drilling holes in order to run the cabling through, this results in less installation time. In fact if you wanted to and you feel you are up to the challenge you could actually install it yourself.

However, if you do choose to do a diy security system install, make very sure you read through all the documentation that comes with the system. You will need to be very careful planning the location of all the sensors so that no areas of your home are uncovered before you begin the install.

One last advantage of this wireless security system is that it can also be controlled by you when you are away from home. After it's all set up on your computer system, whether laptop or a PC like at work, you can do whatever the system allows. This means up to and including arming your blue tooth home security system if you forgot to do so on your way out the door in a big hurry this morning.
