Making Maternity Clothes Using A Machine Clothing

By: Jane Bear

There are an increasing number of makers of maternity clothes, but you still won't find the same variety of styles that you're used to in regular women's clothes. So, if you have a creative streak and some free time, supplement your wardrobe with some handmade pieces.

Maternity clothes that you make personally are made to fit your body: your chest, your hips, and your shoulders. The pants will have exactly the right rise and the legs will skim your shoe-tops at just the right spot; shirts will button neatly over your breasts and the sleeves won't be too short, too tight, or too long.

But it is usually extremely hard to find beautiful and stylish maternity clothing patterns, especially if you are petite or plus size. So, go for regular patterns that you can modify into maternity patterns just by changing a few simple things. There are also many sewing patterns can be altered to fit during pregnancy. If you're nervous about making alterations, start with patterns designed for maternity wear.

Many women buy their maternity dress patterns on the Internet. Online retailers often have a wide selection of patterns, including some that are vintage, out of stock, or no longer produced. You can also search for maternity patterns at your local fabric store and discount stores.

When sewing maternity clothes using a clothing machine, the comfort of the pregnant woman should always be kept in mind. Pregnant women are lucky because they can make fashionable and comfortable skirts and dresses with easy sewing patterns.

The fabric for the pants should also be comfortable and should provide the pregnant woman ease in movement. A jumper that is easy to sew using machine clothing would also be a nice maternity clothing item. Loose style coats and capes are usually in fashion and are great for the pregnant women.

Cotton is an excellent fabric for making and sewing clothing using machine clothing for mothers to be. Whether the weather is cool or warm, cotton is very comfortable, easy to launder, and is a fabric that "breathes."

Another way to supplement your maternity wardrobe is by making alterations with your own clothes using machine clothing. But the problem with making changes with your pre-pregnancy clothes is that when try to change them back after the pregnancy; they may never look the same anymore. With altering your own clothes, you'll just add a stretchable panel to the front of your pants or jeans, or add fabric to your tops.
